COMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN (CWPP)
The current COMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN (CWPP) is in the process of being updated. The existing plan is over 10 years old. The updates are being done by an outside contractor and will be completed by fall of 2026.
The TC CWPP was developed and promulgated in 2010 to meet the intent of the federal Healthy Forests Restoration Act (HFRA). That plan described the county’s relevant characteristics (e.g., demographics, socioeconomics, natural resources, etc.), identified wildfire hazards, included wildfire hazard and capability assessments, defined and described ten strategic planning areas, and documented current and proposed wildfire mitigation activities.
The county has hired a consultant, Bintel, Inc., to do the updates on the County CWPP. We have also hired a project manager, Dave Wells, to oversee the operation.
Dave has been promoting some community involvement. This included flyers that he has taken around to business and agencies. Dave meet with the owners/offices that he placed the poster in.
Bintel is working with the local fire departments and with ODF on this plan
