What you need to know
Earthquake & Tsunami (Tidal Wave) Information Who, What, Where, When, Why & How
★ Who: Everyone may need to evacuate to a safe place.
★ What: Evacuate due to earthquake ground movement causing unsafe structures, power outages, ruptured water and sanitation pipes, and potential water inundation (tidal wave) from high waves.
★ Where: Pre determine your "safe location" out of the inundation (tidal wave) zone; and/or outside of your home structure. These are often predesignated by your local area; find out where that is! Where are your emergency supplies stored?
★ When: Evacuate immediately after the shaking stops. Do not return until authorities confirm it is safe.
★ Why: To ensure safety and access to a designated safe place.
Your Go-Bag may be all You have; Include the essentials - Shelter, water, food, medications and communication.
★ How: Evacuate on foot, as roads will likely be impassable due to road damage, or obstructions such as trees, power lines, debris and/or gridlock. Aim to reach safe or high ground within 10-15 minutes.

Then on October 15th, 2026 our fictional earthquake shaking starts at 10:15am. Wherever you are - Drop! Cover! Hold On
Why is “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” important to practice? You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down, or something falls on you. Practicing helps you be ready to react. In the Big One, strong shaking may last as long as 5 minutes.
Once shaking stops, if you live in the tsunami zone, grab your gobag and move quickly to high ground. The earthquake is your tsunami warning. In some areas, the initial tsunami waves start arriving in 10 minutes.
